Automobiles in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located many other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.

City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
